WHERE to engage in Apologetics

I'm a methodical person. I think of this ldsonline.ning site as a place to learn method. For myself and others who have a desire to engage in Mormon Apologetics, how can I methodically prepare and participate? Well, I will start a few discussions of things I think we need to talk about in that regard. Later I will start discussions about WHAT, WHY, HOW, etc (or you can!). But let's start with WHERE.

WHERE online (and in real life?) can we participate in Mormon Apologetics. I will give my suggestions and I would love to hear yours. Some places for Apologetics is "our" turf -- sites created by LDS persons -- and some places are "their" turf. Either type of suggestion is great.

I will start with THE premier spot for Mormon Apologetics, IMO, and that is www.fairlds.org (they have some other associated sites and opportunities). Another place that was associated with FAIR, but I'm not sure still is (someone enlighten me?) is www.mormonapologetics.org, a forum board. There are pros and cons to both of these places, and they may not be for everyone, but I do see a great potential for good to be done with them.

Another place is the social network that I help moderate, LDS.net. This is a place with many opportunities. Some of you may separate the line clearly between Apologetics and Sharing the Gospel (what IS different about them, someone want to say?), but for me they overlap a lot, emphasis on the sharing the gospel. But there are many times when just having understanding between parties is a great outcome. Or at the least, correcting misinformation. So there are lots of goals, and I think a huge discussion on goals of Apologetics is another thread.

But back to lds.net -- there are at least three places where you could make a difference. The chat room; the forums; and in Groups. Explore them all. One may be more for you, and like I said, those are only 3 possibilities of LDS.net.

I have found my new favorite place. Visit Yahoo! Answers and under "Society & Culture" then "Religion & Spirituality" you can answer questions. You can also put in the search term Mormon and answer the questions that come up. You could also answer questions in other forums there according to your interest and just be personable and/ or give an LDS perspective. I got this suggestion to go to Yahoo! Answers from More Good Foundations website. They have a list of suggestions of ways and places to share the gospel online.
